Dear Parents,
SJEA is committed
to delivering a world-class educational experience for all of our students
and families. We understand that good teaching coupled with parental involvement
increases a student’s chances of succeeding in school and in life.
With this in mind, we have decided to provide parents with easy access
to student information via our new on-line system which is called Infinite
Campus or ‘IC’ for short. The Parent Portal portion of the
system connects parents/guardians to students’ data at anytime from
home, work, public library or anywhere that can establish an internet
connection. The Parent Portal is a free service that provides the most
current information for student schedules, attendance, courses and grades.
We are now pleased to announce that Parent accounts are being offered
to all of our SJEA families – Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Parent/guardian
Activation Keys and directions are available for pick up in room 406.
Distribution hours are listed on our school calendar, however if you are
unable to make any of the times posted you may also make an appointment
that best suits your schedule. Please read though the information below
for additional information. Should you still have questions or if you

Please take note of the following changes regarding distribution
protocol of Quarterly Progress Reports:
- For students
in grades 1 through 5 - printed progress reports will no longer be sent
home, this also includes progress reports for SFA
- For students
in grades 6-8 - printed progress reports will no longer be mailed home
- Parents/guardians
will be responsible for monitoring their child’s quarterly progress
via the IC Parent Portal
- The following
options are available for those parents/guardians that do not have internet
access or are unable to use the Infinite Campus system. If interested
in either option, please contact Ms. Palos for additional information.
- A
written request must be made to continue having a printed progress
report sent home with child.
- School
computer labs will be made available to parents/guardians before
and after school to check their IC Parent Portal account.
Please
note the following guidelines for account distribution:
- Only
parents/guardians designated with legal rights to student records may
receive a Parent Portal account
- Accounts
must be picked up in person by the student’s legal parent/guardian
- Parent/guardian
must sign a parent AUP (Acceptable User Policy)
- Parent/guardian
must show photo identification.
- Parents
may not share their account information with their child(ren) or any
other unauthorized user.
General
Information:
- Parents/guardians
will now have the ability of checking their child's progress (grades)
at any time throughout the quarter.
- If needed,
each parent/guardian may receive his/her own separate account; however
each person must still follow the procedures outlined above.
- Each
Parent Portal account provides access to information for all children
enrolled at SJEA for which the parent/guardian has legal rights. It
is not necessary for parents to set up a separate account for each of
their children.
- If you
have already picked up your account and cannot view information for
all of your children, please call or email Ms. Palos.
- Currently
students in grades 5-8 have their own personal accounts, and therefore
have access to monitor their own grades using the IC Student Portal.
- Students
in grades 3 and 4 will receive their personal account, as well as training
on how to use the IC Student Portal in the coming weeks.
- At this
time, there are no plans to provide students in grades K-2 with their
own Student Portal account, but please note that Parents with children
in these grade levels will have access to their child’s information
via the Parent Portal.
- It is
highly recommended that parents/guardians do not rely on using their
child’s Student Portal account, as we will continue to open features
in the Parent Portal, as well as send notifications that cannot be viewed
using the Student Portal.
- Instructions,
training and FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) will soon be placed
under the Parent Portal link on our school website – www.sanjose-edison.com.
- Please
visit our school website frequently for IC announcements and updates!
